Radiosurgery

Scottsdale Ranch Animal Hospital utilizes an advanced Ellman Surgitron radiosurgery unit in order to provide advanced surgical care for your pet.

Radiosurgery uses high-frequency radiowaves transmitted through a plastic-coated antenna and a small needle electrode to make incisions. Heat is induced only in the cells that are in contact with the needle electrode. A small amount of heat is generated; however, this heat allows the surgeon to make an incision while simultaneously coagulating the blood.

Radiosurgery has many benefits for your pet. It minimizes tissue damage and alleviates pain and controls bleeding. This speeds up your pet's recovery time. There is also a wide range of applications for radiosurgery, including skin incisions, tumor dissection, organ biopsy, gingivectomy and epilation.
