Meet Dr. Travis Nick
With deep roots in Scottsdale and more than a decade of veterinary experience, Dr. Travis Nick brings trusted leadership and thoughtful, compassionate care to every patient. He serves as medical director of Scottsdale Ranch Animal Hospital and regional medical director for the Southwest region. Dr. Nick has practiced at Scottsdale Ranch since July 2011, continuing the legacy of his father, practice founder Dr. John Nick. Born in Stillwater, Oklahoma, he was raised in Scottsdale and graduated as the valedictorian of Paradise Valley High School.
Dr. Nick earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Baylor University and graduated with honors from Colorado State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010. He then completed a prestigious small-animal medicine and surgery internship at The Ohio State University, where he helped train and educate more than 140 senior veterinary students. Today, he continues his commitment to education by mentoring veterinary students through externships and preceptorships, giving back to the profession and inspiring the next generation of veterinarians.
Dr. Nick is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and Phi Zeta, the national veterinary honor society. His professional interests include dentistry, soft tissue surgery, and the management of complex medical cases. He takes time to help clients understand their options so they can make confident, informed decisions about their pets’ care.
Outside the hospital, Dr. Nick enjoys spending time with his wife and young daughter, playing golf, and caring for the family’s ever-changing menagerie of pets—currently three dogs, one rabbit, two mice, and a guinea pig. As both a veterinarian and a pet owner, he understands how deeply animals enrich the lives of the families who love them.
